The former Caped Crusader is in talks to battle a teen-aged Spidey.
Variety has reported that Michael Keaton is in early discussions to play a villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Marvel and Sony Studios have not commented on the potential casting news.
Michael Keaton played the Caped Crusader in Tim Burton’s Batman (1989) and reprised the role in Batman Returns (1992). Keaton’s career has seen a resurgence in recent years. He received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in 2014’s Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Keaton also co-starred in an ensemble cast in 2015’s Spotlight which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland as the new Spidey hits theaters July 7, 2017. The title Homecoming is a reference to the high-school setting and as Holland said, ”Peter (Parker) is trying to find his way home.” The new Spider-Man makes his screen debut in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016 in North America.
